Cough accompanies several respiratory disorders, affecting the chest and throat. This

may be productive or just dry cough and may be acute or chronic. People of all ages

from paediatric to geriatric suffer from cough. Cough may be associated with sneezing

or coryza; loss of appetite and vomiting. Some commonly used chemical cough syrups

are habit forming or cause side effects like nausea, constipation, anorexia, dryness,

sedation or drowsiness etc.
